Spector, and his "Wall Of Sound" production technique, revolutionized how music was made. However, the sound does not translate well to metal because it is built on layers of different instruments and vocals, whereas metal is more of a cohesive production. Because of this, the laying effects do not truly come through in metal.

Spectors techniques are much more suited to the rock/pop genres.

It amazes me, how 3 guys ( guitar, bass, drum ) can put out so much sound! Phil Specter influenced the world of music greatly, and Rock does owe him a lot.
