I thought the britts ,sold the land that became Israel?

Arabs, who call themselves Palestinians, lived in the area before 1947. In that year, the UN designated the land for Jews harmed during WWII. The Arabs hate Jews. Some Palestinians fled to other countries. Some stayed. They still hate the Jews, even though Israel is a model of democracy and economic success in the area.

well, palestine was already there when israel was created after WWII. basically that part of the world was home to many tribes and peoples, including the palestinians and the jews. Before WWII there was no jewish state. After WWII and the holocaust, it was decided to form a jewish country in palestine. the palestinians weren't happy about it and that's how it all started. altought it was granted to the palestinians the right to form a country of their own, because of the terrorist attacks and some parts that are disputed by both palestinians and israelis, that hasn't been possible.

The majority of them immigrated there over the past thousand or so years after the Islamic conquest of the land from the then Byzantine empire.

They migrated west and conquered the middle east about 1500 years ago,there never was a Palestinian state.They were always part of another nation.

I think you need to reword the question: How did the israelis get to be in the middle of palestine?
