Why do conservatives fear the Greens so much?

Question

My mum calls them watermelons - green on the outside, communist red on the inside! It's ridiculous but I noticed FamilyFirst's election message was "fear the greens." Why?

This is a question about the Aussie election only.

Never heard that...We Conservatives love our greens (Collards, Spinach, Turnips...great source of fiber and iron!).
As regards communists and socialists, we don't fear them...they are loathed and pitied.

Hehehehe ... communist, that's a bit silly (no disrespect to your Mum).

The Greens are so communists, which is a different type of political thought altogether. They don't advocate communal processes or reshaping of the economy in that direction.

While I'm not 100 per cent in favour of the Greens, they are not communists.

As to why 'Family Fist' and others have chosen to demonise the Greens, there are two reasons ~ one is that the Greens advocate personal freedoms which strike fear into the heart of control freaks like the whackjobs in Family Flust and other 'religious' oriented parties.

The second is, that if they didn't have the Greens to make a fuss about, no-one would ever pay even a half a minute's attention to them. After all, what are their policies? Seriously, have a look, they offer nothing new or innovative, and the whole party reeks of sanctimoniousness and extremity.

They demonise the Greens because it's easier than actually doing any work and making policies of any real value to this country.

Many conservatives don't want to hear the truth; Many of us are threatened by something we either don't understand, covering our eyes and our ears, buring our heads in the sand in the hope that when we come out, things will be the same as they have always been, as long as we're ok attitude. Many Conservatives by this I mean those who prefer the - in their view - stability of the status quo, the old boys club who have a limited view on society and are afraid of anything new or challenges their opinion on the world. The Greens on the other hand, tell it like it is, and would rather face the real world, are more interested in the higher values of life that include the true moral way to be, taking care of each other, the planet and making sure that people are more important than money. Many so called Christians who support conservative policies demand that their view is the only true moral ones, No gay marriage, no sex before marriage, its these same people who preach and condemn certain minorites who claim to be compassionate and loving.
So these people fear the Greens because they know the underlying support of The Greens is growing, the labor party know that and have done a deal with them in order to secure the election. THis means that many Green policies will come into being that will directly challenge the right o f politics. - something like that anyway......

The Greens are for a greener environment and if the pulp mill gets its way can you see what will happen to all the trees that are on the Island we call Tasmania

And imagine Tasmania with no trees at all, what will happen then . Family first are another name of a liberal supporter, they agreed to sell Telstra, when the people of Australia did not.

What policies have they announced that makes sense because they have none , they are waiting just to get back in and do nothing except back Howard again.

Your mum must be a liberal due to her prejudice towards people that think about the future and don't look back in the past like the Liberals.

The greens have been trying to put climate change on the politcal agenda for years and matbe if Howard had listened we wouldn't be in such a mess now!!

Family First are just trying to scare voters towards them (a Liberal Party tactic....no coincidence there). They are religious fundementalists that want to bring religion into politics to block policy on stem cell research etc using a self belief model, with little consideration for the people it might help.

conservatives live in past , liberals have intelligence but lack direction and confused. They are good at delivering lectures in seminars but talk in cacophony. Then we have neo liberals who are liberals in some aspects, Then there are Pan liberals who know nothing of any policy.
In india we have shades - consevatives with liberal outlook, left of centre liberals, Right of centre liberal conservatives , centrist conservatives.
We have greens who are more concerned about wild animals but not on wild men.
Indian green think any thing green is to protected be it a stray leaf. If they have their way they will starve india preventing them from consuming green vegs.

We don't fear them, would you like a good example of why many people don't like them ? You only have to look at Peter Garret, he should have stayed on the rock stage, better still stayed under a rock, or maybe you should ask some of these people who have had there homes destroyed due to fire's all because the Greens wouldn't allow back burning, looking at the Green's party one would have to think what a bunch of Radicals.

conservatives have been brainwashed to think that environmentalism is some kind of communist plot to create a one world government that will be ruled by the anti-christ. apparently anything that goes against the interests of the rich is part of this conspiracy.

They Greens are the environmentalists. And the Repulbicans don't want to have to make demands on their rich buddies who are CEOs and owners of companies to have to spend any money to protect the environment. I say if they are messing it up, then let them pay to fix it.
