because a friend is stressed out, what can you do to help if that friend wants to be left alone for the time being?

don't feel bad , if the friend knew that you are feeling bad cz of them they will get more stressed .
just pray for them .

I once asked an expert on how to feel better even if there is something that causes sadness. He said :
1- Talk about it, do not keep it inside.
2- Go out, even alone, even not talking to anybody. By going out, you see other people, this in itself will make you feel better. Watching TV is not a cure, but seeing others in the street is a cure.
3- Have small kids near you. Kids engage you in their world and make you busy with them.
Now if you can help your friend by letting that friend do these things it will be a good help in shaa Allah.

All you can offer her or him is TIME to relax & ease the stress, you can also advice her other friends to do the same as you and then after enough time u can make plan in how to cheer her up

We can not cause affect to any other human being unless they want to change the mood or the situation them self. Yes pray for them but no one should feel bad over something that is beyond their control. We all have our tests x

Advise him/her to sleep, sleeping heals lots of sorrows ,(I am sleeping all the time)
