got told off by the health officer,that i need to cover the edge of my table in my restaurant kitchen .(for health and safety reason).the table egdes is bit damage and few knife marks.any idea how to cover it?any glue ?
pls help

Hi Babs,

It would help US to know the "substance" of this kitchen work table. It sounds like WOOD; which seems a bit odd; but even Butcher Block isn't a miracle material.

The substance of the top would certainly matter in how you manage to placate the Health inspector. Perhaps questioning the authorities for suggestions regarding their specific laws might be a good place to start. Obviously; as number one states you have options. Knife marks suggests it is wood and splintering.

If the table is wood; you might ask if you can border it with stainless steel. For health reasons I'd probably replace the top no matter.

easiest way i can think of is to sand or hand plane table edge smooth and straight , and then glue a 3/4 in. strip of maple all along the edge ,make it as wide as the table is thick , clamp, and knock off the edge with sandpaper when set...use titebond ll waterproof glue...
