That's some good advice you got.
Your friends are your friends now. Who knows if they will be in the future. How would you like to go with them now and give up on your dream only to find that when they have the same decision to make, they go for their dream and leave you behind?
In the end you have to decide objectively, what is more important to you. While you are thinking about that you can think long-term or short-term.
It might be a little much for you (or maybe not), but have a look at this page of my website: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/an_acting_career.html . You might find something there that will help.
To go through and read the information and understand it and think about it will take you some time. If you find it to be a chore or you find that you just want a quick fix, then you probably already answered your own question.
In other words, if really trying to get to the bottom of this question you asked is such a bother, then you might want to think about going somewhere far away to pursue acting.
Just to give you some food for thought.
Good luck!
Tony

Just to be a little different - go to Virginia where your friends are and study acting there. There's no school anywhere that has "the secret" to acting and the better the class, the more of an emotional beating you're going to take and the more you're going to need friends to support you. Just don't let your friends become a distraction.

We as human beings were created as social beings we have the ability to make friends anywhere in the world.what matters the most is your dream your dream can come true without you friends but it will never happen without you so you are the most important thing in achieving your dream.don't worry about your friends you can meet other friends and once friends are always friends.have you ever realized that there are some friends that you have in a particular time of your life and once you are past that you stage you don't need them because you will have others. But at the end of the day it depends with your top priority.is it your friends or your dream..

You should go and persue acting. If its your dream and you truelly want to become an actress you need to become independant, and that means leaving your friends. It may seem hard but you have to remember, when your friends all have jobs they love you will look back and think, "look at me...i didn't go and know im doing a job i hate, while my friends are doing jobs they love." Remember, you wont have these friends forever but this choice could affect your life.
Also, you can always keep in touch with your friends and you can see them in the summer...You will also make other friends too.
anyway. good luck :D

You have to follow your dream. When I graduated High School, I had to decide the same thing. I chose my dream and never regretted it. What boarding school in TX is good for acting? Do let me know as I advise many students who are looking for acting trainging. Thanks, Doc
