If you are planting the rose plants in pots, use a wide and little bigger than usual one. Use eggshells, remains of tea and coffee waste after making tea or coffee as manure. keep the plants in sun. water them twice a day. you can even make manure from waste vegetables and fruits. I have a terrace garden of roses. I don't purchase any chemical manure what I do is the above. My roses are big in size with bright colours.

To ensure that your rose lives much longer than its little hour, one needs to protect the plant from certain diseases, the most prevalent of which are fungal diseases.if u r growing in pot or in a rose bed remove the weeds (grass) bcoz they take all the nutrients of the plant and the stops growth of your plant Water the plant 2 times a day and still if they r growing proprly u should spray fungicides or pesticides but be sure u tell the problem to the salesman before u buy .Although not new, neem continues to be a front runner as an effective pest and disease control method, especially with roses. Neem or Azadirachta indica is derived from the Neem tree native to India. For controlling diseases on roses such as black spot and powdery mildew, neem has many fans and is a proven preventative and control. As an insecticide, neem is an effective control at fighting one of rose’s most notorious pests, the Japanese beetle. Neem can act as a repellent, it can disrupt the feeding cycle of certain other pests and it can suffocate others.
Potassium bicarbonate has been proven effective in over 200 university studies and more than nine years of organic agricultural use at preventing and curing many plant diseases including black spot on roses.Unlike many other commercial fungicide products, potassium bicarbonate is safe to use and is even approved for use by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). The formula used at the consumer level is the same used for commercial agriculture. It is currently available to the consumer as GreenCure (www.greencure.net).
Hope it HELPS u

Growing Roses?
They like lots of water especially when first planted.
Roses need at least 6 hours of sun each day. They prefer rich loamy soil.
Roses should NOT stand in water, even during dormant winter months. They can be planted alone or with other companion perennials. Be sure to give then enough room to fill out. Normally around 3-4ft. between plants. This will also help with fungus and insect problems.
Fertilize at least once per month starting in March and ending in October. Do not fertilize during cold winter months.
Always use a good Rose food fertilizer.

Full sun, open air, and good dirt. My wife had some sorry-*** roses growing against the south end of our house, where two of three existed, but the air didn't really move around them and the suffered from black spot pretty badly. I built some raised planters in an open part of our yard last spring and moved them there. They absolutely flourished in the new conditions where the air could move through them. I only sprayed them twice over the summer for black spot and they flowered continuously.

Find a rose that will grow in your zone.Just because it is sold in your area does not mean it will do well.Try a fool proof rose like "Knock Out".I have several and they are still blooming in November in Michigan. Also get the book "Roses For Dummies".It really has allot of common sense advice.
