No religion for me is so powerful that it would stop me from seeing my children growing up .
Such a sad sad waste of a life now these children have to grow up without a mother because of these crazy beliefs.

thank you for raising this thought provocking question. i studied JW religion many years ago at university and interviewed some JW's on this subject. They felt justified at the time because it was right at the start of the AIDS/HIV issue in 1987. So if you accept blood you could get aids -"gods curse" their words not mine. They claim it is biblical in origin to abstain from blood, but this was a literal translation of a passage relating to animal sacrifices to pagan gods, not transfusions which had not even been invested then! As far as i can see, God gives doctors the skills and knowledge to save lives, who are we to throw away a life? I am sure god would not have wanted those two babies to grow up motherless for the sake of a misinterpretation of the bible. So senseless. Everyone is entitled to believe what they like, but if their faith has detrimental effects on others (ie the twins, or extremist terrorists for example) then there has to be something wrong. My thoughts are with those babies who will no doubt blame either themselves for being born or their dad for not stoping their mother's death. Nobody should die in childbirth in this day and age. Enough said - I'm off to give blood!

This news has left me rather sad. Especially as only last week a Jehovah's witness was telling me there's an alternative to blood transfusion. She spoke of some type of Plasma. How come this woman didn't know about it???
This is a question I always ask about when speaking with JW's.
Poor children......poor young husband, now father....I hope God will ensure to keep the family's wages coming in every week...

Jehovah's Witnesses are more of a cult than a religion.
And the elders of the church would of told her family to disown her and thrown her out of the church by excommunicating her had she taken the blood.
That is the sad reality of this cult.
She would of lived in shame , alone and in spiritual turmoil because of their beliefs.
Unable to speak to anyone still in the church including her family.
I have known many Jehovah's Witnesses and I am very aware of there beliefs.
I feel sad that the 2 kids will grow up alone and will probably be indoctrinated into this cult.
This unfortunately is a tragedy that will continue to have an impact for many years to come.

It is part of her faith, she believed in their teachings & did not want to go against that.Jehovah Witnesses do not believe in accepting other peoples blood,(not such a bad idea in some ways, none of them will contract aids/hiv virus through blood transfusion).Hard for anyone to understand that has no religious beliefs but it was her choice. If her husband is also a witness & has a strong faith too,he will expect to see her again one day, they believe that one day there will be a physical ressurection.

● What are the Scriptural grounds for objecting to blood transfusions?
Jehovah made a covenant with Noah following the Flood, and included therein was this command: “Flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” (Gen. 9:4) The Law given through Moses contained these restrictions: “Eat neither fat nor blood.” “Eat no manner of blood.” “Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh.” (Lev. 3:17; 7:26; 17:10, 11, 14; 19:26) And in the Greek Scriptures the instruction to Christians is: “The holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep yourselves free from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things killed without draining their blood and from fornication.”—Acts 15:19, 20, 28, 29; 21:25, NW.

I would dearly like to see the Jehovah's Witnesses actually discuss the reasons behind their decision not to accept blood transfusions. Most Christians disagree with their interpretation of the bible, as do I.

That makes me so angry, an elder in the Jehovah Witness cult needed a liver, and he accepted the transplant. The liver contains blood, there are some hypocrites
in that cult. It is do as I say, not do as I do
now we have two little babies left without a mother makes me sick.

The truth about what they believe is wrong god did not want us to consume blood meaning drinking of it or eating of raw meat with it he did not say we could not get transfusions to save our lives when will they ever learn when all their kids grow up with out parents or when all there kids die from being refused the gift of life do they realize that was her committing suicide in her own way and she will be condemned to hell now and committing murder when they do this to there kids and let them die i guess they will all finally realize this when they all find themselves in eternal damnation in there so called heaven
