Is she really blind? Because I feel she is blind like as it's real. Thanks a lot.

The girls who play Helen Keller in the two film versions of "The Miracle Worker" are not blind.

Patty Duke starred as Helen Keller in the Broadway production then starred in the film (1962) opposite Anne Bancroft. Duke won Best Supporting Actress; Bancroft, Best Actress. I imagine that you are acquainted with all of the work this actress has done. Annie wears dark glasses and is supposed to have poor vision, but Anne Bancroft did not.

Melissa Gilbert played Helen in the TV remake (1979), with Patty Duke portraying teacher Annie Sullivan. Melissa was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, while Patty won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series. She, too, has had an active career.

They all did a marvelous and convincing job of acting, didn't they? I think both versions are amazing, and both make me cry every time I watch them. That final scene in which Helen finally understands just shatters me, which is impressive considering that, when I taught high school, I showed one or the other film in each of my classes.
