My friends father recently passed away. He has hundreds of swords, knives, battle swords, samurai swords. I have tried e-bay and craigslist. Does anyone know a good place to sell these items? We are trying to pay for his burial expenses. THANK YOU!

I'd be interested in seeing some of them, ideally you'd have to find a dealer or collector in that area, I collect swords and knives, try ebay, it can take a little longer but can get you a better price if you have the time

They should be banned from selling knives - A knife should be licenced sellers only. Yes I know that knives dont kill only people but if people cant get hold of knives then it makes it a bit harder to kill. I strongly feel the seller has some responsibility to ensure that knives dont get into the wrong hands. I did a garage clearing car boot sale a few months ago and naively had a carving knife and fork set. A group of young lads came over and started looking at the knife and making stabbing motions to test its weight and how sharp the point was. When they asked me how much it was I told them £30 as I didn't want to sell it to them as they were not going to carve the Sunday roast with it. I then took it off sale. The point being had I sold that via the internet I would not have a clue who was buying it. I am sure that this group of lads already have several knives some may have been purchased from ebay or other sites but at least I know they are not going to stab someone with my stuff. Ban it

I know there are dedicated collectors forums and sites.
One of those can help you find a collector or auction house.

I have run a google search to get you started, if these sites do not look right to you, do not post on them, I just found them I do not know them:
http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/fusionbb.php
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=732 (you need to register before you can see the post, I did not do that.)
http://www.knifeworld.com/links.html (links page)

You will get more sites and links when you run a search yourself, I searched on -knife collectors forum- and -sword collectors forum-

I would get a sword appraiser/blade appraiser to verify the authenticity and then put them up on ebay. You won't get squat for them if you can't verify them or at least be able to show what they have been valued at.

You could take them to an auction house in your area, sometimes when it is a large collection like the one you have they will hold a special auction.

Try a gun and knife show in your area. Maybe try to find a collector or dealer.
