I am from Croatia and we don't have a monarchy and I am now trying to get information about advantages of having a monarchy. The point stands that they are a prestige to the country that they rule currently , although simbolicly, but do they eat more of the state money or contribute to it with all the publicity and tourist revenue they attract ?

On the other hand is the people that their countries have been under colonial rules of the imperial nations all the way untill 20'th century , african and asian but central Europian alike ( Austran Empire). They don't feel all cuddley and warm when thinking about those days . These pro's and con's are just a tip of the iceberg ...
Your thought's on this ?

I doubt that anything tragic will happen if all the European monarchies will cease to exist.
That have little or no political power anymore.

Some of them are well respected in their countries and their opinion affects public opinion but every preeminent statesman has that effect.

It is not fair to judge them by strict economic standards. Let their people deside their future. We in Greece decided with a vote not to have monarchy anymore so did other countries too.

No. The UN should have no say in what the British people want. nor should it be able to overturn our traditions and culture. Bullshit is a Constitutional Monarchy not democratic. Out of the top ten most democratic countries in the world 7 are Constitutional Monarchies. In total there are 12 Constitutional monarchies out of the 30 full democracies. The Queen exact wage is £0. The Crown Estates produce a profit of about £220 million which is turned over to the government in exchange for the Civil list and other funds. The money the Queen gets from the Government to maintain the palaces, state visits and greeting etc is as you said about £37 million which leaves the tax payer with a profit of £180 million Also your proposed constitution is idiotic the whole point of having a separate Head of State and Head of Government is to keep the PM the person with the most power away from the position of Head of State which has ultimate authority. If that person is either from the same party or a coalition government then it would give them almost no power cap.

I'm a Brit. who would vote for abolition of the monarchy, were we ever to be given the chance. The pros of a monarchy? It takes the head of state completely out of politics and provides a great deal of continuity. Our present Queen has, for example, a great deal of accumulated wisdom having advised, and taken advice from Prime Ministers from Winston Churchill to the present incumbent. The pro-monarchists argue that the monarchy, whilst costing money, is actually a net earner because of the tourist trade etc it creates. It is arguable that that would happen anyway and I don't believe anserious study has been done to weigh a cost/benefit analysis of a monarch as opposed to a President. Against, however, we still have a heavily stratified society where birth means more than ability, were the head of state can hang on to office beyond an age when all other people would have long retired. In the UK we are still technically 'subjects' rather than 'citizens'

Absolutely no consequences, they are all figureheads anyway, kept for tourists. The next step will be to stuff them and keep them in museums.
