I am considering moving from phoenix to san fran, but need info on the differing neighborhoods, apartment/house rentals, etc. Also, any other info that seems relevant and helpful. Thanks.

check www.craigslist.com, you will find useful info for your rental search ,and www.bayareavisit.com to know about neighhood.

It is better to get rental in east bay, it is cheaper and sunny, one bed room usually around $1000.

This is an interesting site. I like it because of photos & also they iinclude rental rates.

Park Merced is a good residential area in the Stonestown and SF State University area. There is parking for residents and public transit.

The Sunset District is good, too, if you have a car. Also public transportation is good.

The outer Richmond District has ample street parking and is easily accessible to downtown SF via #38, #5 busses.
