They are usually offensive questions asked by users with a level one account and the balance in the negatives...I always check to see what their other Q&As are and if they are all the same, then more than likely they are a troll. Although I have seen some who manage to keep their accounts and we have in a small way accepted them into our little world.I answer some of their Qs anyway for some reason, I do enjoy some of the questions set forth by them...or I just see a chance to snap at someone when I'm feeling crabby. :o)

Trolls are much to large, green and smelly to hide easily.

I would also assume they would involve alot of "bully" type references. Like "give me your gold or ill thump you"

If your refering to the trolls from the 80's (i think) with the wild colored hair that goes to a point then it changes the answer...

my answer to that is "ask your mental health specialist why the trolls are asking you questions"

They rant or brag without a real question.... stuff like "I'm a 34 DD with a huge house and alot of money?? What do you think is that weird?" You know they dont have a real question (or life) and making up stuff to fulfill their fantasy world..

If you wake up puking the next day in a cold cell, then that was no troll, those were cops! ;)

Your own gut feeling, noticing predictable buttons are being pushed, check the history - often it is the first and only question or answer.

when they've only been a member for about 10 seconds and they've already asked a lot of "inappropriate" or stupid questions...

they are usually hiding under the bridge, and asking for a toll... don't worry, you should be able to hagle them down to a dollar or two at most.
