If that did happen, there's no way it would be a straight up trade. The sox would have to give more than just Crede.

This is a tough one. Damon is a good team guy and is a great competitor, but is really beat up physically and on the decline. He's also 34 years old, which is not good for a CF. The Red Sox knew this and therefore would not give him a contract as long as the Yankees. Looks like the Sox were right on this one. His arm is so bad the Yanks have considered moving him to first base. at this point, he is only worth his $13M a year on a team that has deep pockets and 4-5 studs that he can complement

Crede on the other hand is solid but not special. He also costs much less at $5M. Of course, if you're about to sign ARod, this might make sense, as Damon gives him a friend on the team (maybe) and a good leadoff guy to drive in, but other than that, I wouldn't do it.

I think the Yankees are trying to dump a damaged Damon and his big contract so they can sign Hunter or Jones for CF. If I were on the other end, I would offer them very little.

Buster Onley reported this is defintley picking up steam. The yankees are more then likely going to get a BIG name via trade. I first thought, they would go for Miguel Cabrera to play 3rd, the guy is a special player. If they get Crede to play third, means all systems are a go for a Johan Santana to yankees trade, prob for Phil Hughes (or wang) and Melky which leaves the CF signing to Toir Hunter or Andruw Jones. Maybe even Aaron Rowand. Take Arods numbers off the yankees last year, they are still tops in Offense. I believe they can replace the big hits Arod has gotten of the royals and devil rays.

This is a great ... rumor!

It will not happen. The White Sox are looking for a center fielder with speed, and do not want an aging center fielder, especially since they already have a lot of players older than 30.

They do want to trade Crede, since it is the last year of his contract, and Josh Fields looks like the real deal. But they want pitching - bullpen pitching. This is not what Damon is, so there will be no deal.

I can't see the Sox doing it straight up considering the cost of what Damon makes compared to Crede, but the way I see it, It may be a possibility for the Yankees to package something with Damon or include some cash to off-set the contract in Damon if they fail to acquire a third baseman off the Free Agent market. As far as Free Agency goes, with Lowell coming off a good season in Boston, there's rumors that Yankees will be attempting to court Lowell to the Bronx, but if all else fails then It wouldn't be to far-fetch to see Damon going to White Sox in a package deal involving Crede because despite his bat, He does display excellent defense in the field and can give Yankees some clutch plays on the left side of the infield along with Jeter.

I see those two as a building block for a trade, some prospects would have to go with Crede and the Yankees would have to pay a portion of Damon's salary. I like the move for the Yankees, you may not get as much offense but you will get better defense out fo 3B this year! It is a throwback to Scott Brosius playing 3B for the Yankees, a team guy, not phenominal offense but great defense and gets just enough done offnesively to contribute. Damon is a 4th OF to them at this point and would play everyday in Chicago...he could go back to Capitan Caveman as well!

Good move for the Yankees, they need an every day third baseman and they currently can field a good outfield without Damon.

Doubt it will happen. Crede is mediocre at best. Yanks need a fairly big name to replace Jerk-rod. I think a trade for Miguel Cabrera is more likely.

I think it's a good possibility and a good move to dump Damon. I love how NY picks up our garbage, First Pedro, Bellhorn, Embree, Meyers, Meinkeivich (Speling?) and now Damon. They'll probably take a run @ Kevin Millar next! All the Damon shirts were on clearence @ BOB'S STORES last week so something is in the air.
