OMG, talk about an article that totally misses the point. A-Rod can and will get paid by the Yankees. He is just a total scumbag. He lacks so much class. He takes the money and runs with it too. He is totally overpaid. The writer of this article seems to be a casual fan of baseball. He just doesn't get it. Who cares about those hedge fund managers? We're talking about A-Rod the person. He's just a nasty guy. I wouldn't want this guy playing for the Tigers. It has nothing to do with capitalism, he's just nasty.

In a business sense, A-rod is not greedy by that standard. He is considered once a life time player next to Babe Ruth. He will undoubtedly break the home run record that Barry Bonds will set. He is a guy that will produce the numbers that a team would love to have a player put up on a yearly basis. Anyone would.
In a general perspective sense, Despite his success in his season, a lot of people are forgetting his struggles that occur in the post-season. If he was anything like Reggie Jackson who earned the honors of Mr. October, there would be a very good chance he would command more than 30 million and possibly as much as 500M if he wanted. However, despite all that, He is personally a greedy type of player, despite his talent, his biggest goal is not winning a world series or even winning MVPs or any type of award but rather to be the highest paid athlete ever. By him saying something like its cool to be the highest paid is pretty much gives you an idea of what kind of person he is when it comes to money. I can't say anything more about his character such as if he donates money to help charities or the unfortunates but until we hear otherwise, that's pretty much the label he would receive from the people across the country

he is greedy, its true, i try to imagine if i were in a job that can make a whole lot of money, and that im the best person at that job, would i have gall to ask for that kind of money? well i hope not
true that arod can get paid a whole hell of a lot of money, im not sure anybody is going to be willing to give him $350mil or a 12 year contract, but theyll give him a lot
its funny when you look at this in the context of the kobe bryant story, bryant wanted to get paid, and he did, but the lakers are spending so much on just him they dont really have the resources to go out and get a team to surround him, if a team is paying a 40something arod (which hell be in 10 years or so) 30-35mil, they are going to bankrupt themselves, he is good, but look at the giants with bonds, they paid him so much money, and they had so little success because they couldnt afford anyone really good to put in the lineup with him, even the year they made the series, it benny santiago hitting behind, come on!!!!
its a shame, because though arod will do a lot for whatever team gets him, he is going to do a lot to hurt them to if hes going to be so selfish, he wants a championship? then take a little less money and get on a good "team", somewhere that has good pieces in place, not somewhere that he will be the only real talent, he wont take less of course, but he should

Obviously yes. I think ALL sports players are overpaid, even though I love watching. THey don't realize what a "normal" person does, by that I mean work 12 months a year, not just 162 games (3hrs/game), and get paid a wage that barely pays all the bills, and have a few weeks of vacation a year. So yes, they are out of touch with the rest of the world.

Arod is clearly being manipulated by his agent...any reasonable person would agree to meet with an employer willing to give you a new contract worth 200 - 300 million dollars. Having said that, it is a free market system and one should try to get maximum value. Is a hedge fund manager worth $ 50 to 100 million per year?

We are an open market society. Any person can ask for any amount of money it all depends if your worth it. To most teams his price is to high and they will hire two other players instead. So if no one offers what he wants do you think he's just going to retire. I don't think so. But you never know about old Georgie Boy. He's probably stupid enough to dish that absurd amount of money to one player and ruin the yankees for ever.

The people that say yes feel they have the right to set compensation standards for the players in place of the employer. His value is what someone is willing to pay him and if any of us feel he is not worth the money all we have to do is not offer him a job to come and work for us.

he wants a 10 year 350 million dollar contract. 11 teams are valued less than that in the MLB. that's like asking for team ownership to play the game. until he does something in the playoffs, his value isn't that high.

No matter who he signs with, AROD by himself and his taxes may be able to bale the country out of debt by the time he retires.

By greedy *** business standards no. But he got paid to do a job and produce but yet he fails at getting far in the post seasons. To get paid that much for a team sport is rediculace. Greedy busines people are out only for themselves and no other so its no wonder they applaude him for trying to get more then what any player is worth
