Personally, I think the fool in this is you. You claim that you were "happily married" yet after several advances by this older married "hillbilly trash" women with "stretch marks" you slept with her, at her place. Were you married when you did this? What do you mean 'you were sent to a place'? Was this during work? No one made you sleep with her, and if you did this while you were married, then your wife has every right to leave you.
The woman could have told your wife because she wanted to make her jealous, or wanted to get you in trouble. Did you continue to talk to/have a relationship with this woman afterwards? If so, she may be jealous of your wife, or she thought your wife already knew......I dunno.
You should be discussing this with your wife and not us.
