I do it all of the time. I am an amputee and also have heart trouble. Even when I have my prosthetic on, I still use my wheelchair because I do not have the stamina to walk very far, although I do get up and walk for short distances.

Those of you who found humor in this question or have been judgmental about it, I hope you never have to face life with a disability, and, if it does happen to you, you never have to deal with persons like yourselves.

people some times use the wheelchair as they are advised to do so in order to prevent further damage to some organs like knees or legs. They are also advised to walk for short distances so that they do not habituate to use a wheel chair.

Well it all depends on the circumstances. Some people need one because they are injured, but can stand and walk short distances. My 74 year old mother can walk, but she uses the electric ones at the malls and other stores because she can't walk too long without her legs giving out, especially if she has a few packages to carry.

Just because someone is in a wheelchair does not mean they cannot walk, just like someone who is wearing a hearing aid is not aways deaf or almost deaf. They may need assistance or one of 1000's of thing unknown to you, me or anyone else.

It's not that unusual. Lots of elderly have a wheelchair to get around because their leg muscles aren't what they used to be.

I would think they don't need it all the time. I have patients like that. Just because someone uses a wheelchair doesn't mean they have to be paralyzed.

I would think of Ricky's Dad on trailer park boys. Then I'd probably laugh for a bit, then I'd open another beer and drive home.
