I'm 16 and instead of alternative, modern, pop or rock music, I like oldies like Sinatra, jazz, blues and bossa nova. Is there something wrong with that? I feel like i'm an old soul. I like really old movies like those of Audrey hepburn. What's funny is that i belong to a clique that listens to MCR and other punk rock bands. I appreciate this music as well but i just like old music better. I'm a singer and i can only sing oldies and mellow music. I cant sing modern. Am i weird?

Nothing. Everyone has different taste in music. I do know how you feel though. My friends and family don't know what type of music I listen to, because I know they'll judge me.
I just think it's so pointless to criticize other people for whatever music they listen to. Music is something everyone should enjoy, without fear of criticism. It doesn't matter what genre it is, or who the artist is. As long as you like it, that's what counts.

theres nothing wrong with that atall, i am 17 and i kinda do the same, okay i dont like MCR or any emo but i like heavy metal, hardcore punk and jazz, jazz is great to relax to and in my band we use a saxaphone instead of rhythm guitar. so theres nothing wrong with you, your just a little less narrowminded than alot of teenagers.
as for the movies, i LOVE older horror movies (nightmare on elm street (hence the name), friday 13th, halloween, THE SHINING!, the exorsist...), i dont like many new ones, theyre all the same pretty much,

I fell like you but a bit different i listen to rock music and the kids i go to school with say rock suck but i didn't listen to them i have to go trough that 3 years listening to them saying that because were i live at is a bad neighbor hood full of little gangs listen to rap and hip hop and i hate them. I always say "hey dumb a$$ everyone have different taste of music" bla bla bla there is more i said but doesn't matter so there is nothing wrong with you like everyone said here we all have different taste of music and style. hopefuly this help you and other anwers.

Nothings wrong with you, you've got good taste and your friends have poor taste, they let the radio choose what music they like.
I could be wrong but im going to assume youre a bit more intellectual too, you think deeper, and think for yourself. This my dear is a good thing. Dont stop singing and please dont try to sing that crap, kill it, keep real music alive.
(i feel you on the old movies too, though, im more of a Monroe/James Dean fan)

no, i think its cool that you listen to old music and watch old movies. you have your own personal taste, and instead of listening to music on mtv or what bands are "cool" right now, you do your own thing. thats awesome. my mom, even though shes probably about 30 years older than you, watches movies from the 30's and 40's, even though she grew up in the sixties and seventies. youre not weird at all. all of this modern music and everything is just a trend right now, and its awesome that you dont get caught up in any of it and youre just yourself.

The way i look at it is this. Music is music and we all like different types, If we didnt all music would sound the same. So listen to whatever makes you happy.

LOL...no you aren't weird, you just don't like mainstream what other teens like that's all, everyone has different taste. and if someone tell you you are don't listen LOL that that wouldn't be nice.
