But with an older woman and a young boy, people don't see the woman as a predator, they see her as disturbed and in need of help, and many wink and talk about how lucky the boy is. In many states, statutory rape laws apply only to males. 15 year old boys have been arrested for having sex with 16 year old girls. We assume the female is always helpless and the male is always the aggressor.

Because society as a whole believes males to be the sexual aggressor. This stereotype also applies to domestic abuse, where it is generally believed that the male is always the aggressor. Actually the laws are written to apply equally to both sexes. It's the human factor - judges, lawyers, juries - that perpetuate the male offender as a monster and the female offender as a victim.

But in todays society, which hasn't really changed in thousands of years, women are the weaker sex.
