I meditate and take a little vacation...it doesn't have to be something too extravagant...even a long weekend would help me start over.

RS, I'm sorry to hear of your news. : ( Kudos to you for seeing a therapist! Excellent. This person will hopefully help you to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe me, it's there! Right now and in the coming days you'll be exploring yourself. You'll do things you may have always wanted to try. Go for it! Meditation is such a personal decision and something I wouldn't recommend after/during a relationship separation -- too quiet with too many opportunities to be overwhelmed with thoughts. Yoga can be physical, spirtual & emotional. Yoga is pretty low key and incorporates enough physical stuff that your mind won't go bonkers w/thoughts like meditation can generate. You can choose from your regular hatha yoga to a more physically intense ashtanga or power yoga. I'm not sure what yoga studios you have where you live, but it's worth checking out. There are also "outdoor groups". These can be pretty awesome, taking hikes and doing other outdoor excursions with groups of people. Some cities have "When your relationship ends" type groups -- usually they meet one night a week for 6-10 weeks. I may be suggesting this a bit TOO prematurely, but you can look for this. It's amazing to be around people who are going through what you're experiencing -- very healing and a good way to jumpstart your new friend circle. I'm not sure what's going on with you and your wife and I'm not prying either. You won't be able to coerce your wife into making the relationship work. Many times when someone makes an announcement that they want a separation they having been thinking this matter over for quite a while and they may even be thinking of the next stage -- usually not getting back together. I'm NOT trying to paint a bleak picture, but merely pointing out that your wife said she wanted a separation, not "Let's go to therapy TOGETHER to work on us." There is a big difference. My heart goes out to you in such a huge way. If you were here I would give you a ginormous hug and I would also realize that my hug is not powerful to cure any of the pain you may be experiencing. Some other recommendations would be to keep talking, talk to your friends and family. Many of us have been through very similar situations so you truly are not alone. : ) I wish you strength and peace right now, Gatita PS: Please feel open to email me. : )

First go to the acupuncturists or get a great full body massage, have someone drive me home- don't want to tense back up again.
Then come home, take the phone off the hook, and take a bubble bath, keep refreshing the hot water so you can stay in there until your skin wrinkles. Make yourself a big tall Hennessy and diet coke, listen to some jazz (Miles Davis is good)............Go to bed, the next day you feel like a new woman. It works, try it!

Take a dump

lol jk sorry. I usually just lay down and think about anything that pops in my head. Like, I'll look at something, then that reminds me of something, and I'll just create a chain

Take a walk on my land. Through the woods, and take care of my animals.
