Do you ever worry about your parents getting too old and sick, such that you would have to take them in, or even worse, put them in a nursing home?

If so, how old are you, and how old are your parents?

I am only 18 and my parents are 49 and 52... but this is my greatest fear.

So, does anyone fear condemning their parents to an insufficient old age?

I helped nurse my Granddad and Mum until they both died within 6 weeks of each other. Now I am 63 and my kids are caring for me. That is family!

No, I don't fear that. I'm betting that by the time you and your parents are old enough to face that possibility you will be much more capable of making a wise decision about what's the best solution for yourself and your parents. As your parents get older so will you. As you get older you'll have gained alot of wisdom, and if or when the time comes you'll know the right thing to do.

My mom's having alot of health problems right now, so I'm very scared, not because I mind taking care of her, but I'm going to leave for college next year and I'm scared of leaving her. Putting her in a nursing home seems sick beacuse those places seem so cold and inpersonal, I want to be the person who takes care of her if she needs someone.
I'm 17, my mom's 49, my dad's 54

I'm 38, my mom is 69 and my dad is 63. Yes I worry about them getting older and sick. If they got to sick to take care of themselves I would have them move in with me. I'm a nurse and have worked in nursing homes. They wouldn't get decent care there.

I am 16 and my parents are 50 and 55. I can tell blatantly that they are aging. I guess the best thing one can do is live life as it comes. Don't worry about it too much.

Yes, for now they are healthy & independant. If the become physically or mentally incapable, I can't stand the thought.

I'm 48 & my parents are 66 & 70. This could be happening all too soon.

It's quite young to worry about this. Normally when your their age you have the worries. In your 40's you have the worries of your kids and parents.
