actually dogs do it too, however, they aren't as meticulous and obsessive about it like cats are. dogs mostly get their paws and sometimes lower bellys and privates. Cats get everywhere

Dogs do, just not as much. And cats have a tongue specifically engineered for cleaning. Dogs tongues are even softer than ours and aren't as good for cleaning. Also - they aren't nearly as afraid of water, so they can clean themselves in other ways.

Alot of dogs do it too. Haven't you seen dogs licking their genitals? They're trying to keep them shiny and clean! Dogs clean the rest of themselves too. Dog saliva has strong anti-bacterial agents too.

Dogs arent afraid of water. In wildlife, dogs, just like wolves will easily go into the river. Cats do not mix with water, ever!
