Just a guess, but if one is in the northern hemisphere (as India is) the shadow cast by a vertical pole "revolves" clockwise as the day progresses. I don't know if this has any connection with the the direction one revolves around a temple, but it does have a tenuous connection with physics (but more with astronomy).

Electrons do no longer persist with a sequence direction. they might occupy any section in a given orbital. The seen representation of electrons revolving around a nucleus is an user-friendly thank you to visualize them, notwithstanding that's carefully incorrect. Clockwise is only much less complicated to print in books, i assume.

If you're going to revolve, you've got a 50% chance of going either way. Someone long ago picked clockwise arbitrarily, and tradition has upheld the choice.
