I am taking Zicam cold remedy now but can I take cold medicine at the same time??

Zicam is likely a scam. In vitro work showed large amounts of zinc inhibit rhinovirus binding to cells. It made it on the market due to a loophole that allows homeopathic "medicine" on the shelves with no testing. Unlike standard homeopathic treatments, Zicam actually contains an active ingredient, zinc. Large amounts of zinc intranasally can destroy your sense of smell. Meanwhile there is no good evidence it actually works in any form. A review of the literature came to the conclusion the data are too weak to support use of the lozenge form.

Do not mix different types of cold remedies. It could be very dangerous.
