What's up with NBA management these days?

Kobe has less than par talent around him, Lebron James also doesn't have an all-star teammate and his future looks just as bleek as Kobe's. Until recently KG, Allen Iverson, Paul Pierce and Ray allen were all perenial all-stars that missed the playoffs regularly. You can add Jermaine O'Neal the list as well.

What ever happened to the days of the Hakeems Rockets, Malone and Stockton's Jazz, Jordan and Pippen's Bulls, Barkley's Suns, Kemp and Payton's Sonics, Ewing's Knicks, Robinson's Spurs, Shaq with the Magic/Lakers all made the playoffs every single year!

How come management today can't give their superstars players to contend with year after year like in the past?

Worst managed was the Celtics before Ainge pulled off a magic trick to save his butt. Nowadays my fingers still itch to point the Knicks who have a lot of overpaid bozos on their line-up. (Best move that Isiah ever made was the Randolph trade. huh!)

Unless you have a superstar that values talent, and winning like Tim Duncan you couldn't get any other suitable good players to surround your superstar.

Why site Duncan? Duncan took off a lot of money from his paycheck just to ensure that this Spurs team could have the best talents out there to surround himself while he's still on his hunt for more gold.

He is so selfless and really value winning with a championship caliber core anchored on him while other superstars content themselves with shooting more ball and having more posession while sitting with a whole lotta money, Duncan commited himself on winning more.

Hope this helps.

Because the pay the superstars get are outrageous that leaves no room for more talent.

GMs have learnt that ticket sales is not always proportional to winning. Basketball is entertainment, not just a sport. People watch the game for outrageous dunks, fast breaks and 3 pointers. These are what attract crowds, not 15 foot jump shots and good defensive plays. Spurs and Pistons are contendors every year but they don't attract a lot of fans outside of their city.

The SABR approach that has helped Boston Red Sox win 2 world series in 4 years should be applied to Basketball as well. Take the example of Boston. Danny Ainge traded away all the good veterens for a "young" team because he believed in physical fitness more than statistics. After 5 years the Celtics had to jettison that approach and go to veterens. The sooner people realize that a player's ability to win basketball games should be measured primarily by his records (vs. intangibles like passion, physical fitness, etc) many teams will never get out of the rut

I think the worst management in the last 3 years have been the lakers. They went from possibly being a team who could have won 2 more rings to a team with no future. They traded shaq for unequal value. Also right now Mitch Cupcake has the pressure on him to trade chi chi man/batty boy Kobe Bryant for equal value. If you dont what this mean look it up at wikipedia. The conflict is that the lakers want to send him to the east but considering that the bulls pulled out the only good option to saving them might be the mavs if they can get devin harris, josh howard, and a 1st round pick out of this deal.

nicely Diaw replaced into certainly very well worth the twenty first %., he's an exceptionally underrated participant, and being traded for Joe Johnson replaced into certainly a staggering flow. And Josh Smith at #17 in 2004 replaced into very well worth it. i'm going to additionally provide them that on the time buying and advertising Gasol replaced into the nicely suited flow. in case you have the prospect to commerce the third %. for a shown all-famous man or woman and a common around %. you may do it. There are no longer any ensures interior the draft, yet Reef replaced into an exceptionally extremely good NBA participant in his best. He averaged 20-9 over his 3 seasons in Atlanta, that's certainly notably good. Then they commerce him for Sheed, a brilliant flow, oh wait, they swapped Sheed for Bob Sura after one activity.....in no way techniques.... Yeah the Hawks administration is dreadful, yet a minimum of the present administration is greater appropriate than the Lon Kruger era. Did you ever watch a Hawks activity then? there have been actually 5000 people interior the stadium if that.

best is the spurs. there scouting is second to none. they got TP and ginobilli at the end of their respective drafts. the worst has to be philly. aside from getting both AI in drafts what the hell have they done. keith van horn, mashburn. the best trade they eva made was for c-webb and he dint pan out with iverson. then they trade iverson for andre miller. miller is good but they could have had livingston and magette. i know livingston is injured but andre miller isnt the best PG goin round.

whens the last time they even looked like winning a playoff series. i will be surprised if they make the playoffs this year. the have no future plan. igoudala has nobody. dalembert is Ok but is just a poor mans dikembe. if you want a winning team you need a combination of chemistry, offence and definatley defence. so AI and sam are the defence but they have nothing else and that isnt looking to be changed in the next few seasons unless they sign a massive FA sometime soon.

i means i like korver but he shouldnt be an NBA starter. unlike JJ hes a SG that cant dribble or pass and when he plays SF he doesnt rebound and he has no defence wat so eva. wen hes not hitting shots hes useless.

and man. reggie evans starting PF. i mean c'mon billy. wtf r u doing.

The Knicks have been a horribly managed team for several years now. They have the highest payroll and not a lot to show for it.
