Most crib mattress's are water proof or have a plastic liner. you can get a "rubber" sheet to put under your crib sheet though at walmart. but remember that it also gets pretty warm so you might want to watch for prickly heat which will go away in a couple days as long as your daughter doesn't get too hot. I used a plastic mattress, then over it a mattress liner and then the fitted sheet and my daughter sleeps like a bug in a rug.

I also have a waterproof mattress, but I put on a mattress pad for more comfort then the fitted sheet and since my daughter used to pee with such force that her diaper would always leak (since she slept the whole night), I also put a "sheet-saver" under her which was a very thick burp cloth type thing so I didn't have to change her sheets every day. I just washed the pad. I loved it!

Get a flat mattress pad and put it on top of the mattress under the fitted sheet.

We got a great crib mattress (I think at walmart) that is pretty comfy but it's actually wrapped in plastic, so all we have to do is change the sheets and wipe it off with a cloth.
There are mattress pads you can get, also I think they might make a crib sized plastic zip cover you can get (I know they sell them for bigger beds, used to have them on the mattresses at the summer camps I went to)

if your mattress cover is plastic which most are just a crib sheet is good, you dont want much more than that in the crib for your baby to lay on, it will not cause it to smother, if it is on its stomach. but you shoul always put your baby on its back or preferably on its side, if the baby is tiny you can put a small blanket rolled up behind it to sort of support it on its side slightly.

i think of you're able to desire to have a crib in a separate room and a bassinet on your room. the child is so tiny and for the 1st few months i've got self assurance this is lots greater advantageous if the child is sound asleep interior the comparable room simply by fact the mothers and dads. You dont could desire to co-sleep in case you dont prefer to, yet a minimum of a bassinet next on your factor of the mattress could be superb.

I had a pad for the matress, but it kept coming up at the corners so I took it out. My son's matress was also waterproof, and it cleaned up just fine (He puked on it more times than I wish to count)
