Sammy Sosa says he will return to the majors for another season if a team offers him at least $7 million. Alex Rodriguez won't even sit down with the Yankees unless they offer him at least $350 million. Granted, the Yankees have already said they won't place an offer for him since he opted out of his contract. But still...does anybody else think Rodriguez is going just a little bit over the top? He's a phenomenal player - one of the best currently, perhaps ever - but personally I feel he's just way to into the money and wayyy too greedy.

Some players are way too greedy that is for sure.

But then you see one in a few thousand like Tim Duncun and you see that not all of them are about the money.

I think the players that are getting too greedy again are in baseball, which is the problem when they went on strike a while back as well. Those two guys, Sosa and Rodriguez really are not getting better each year or helping thier team get better each year so why pay them more? That is what they need to see when they ask for this money.

If a player is getting better and improving thier team year after year then yes pay them whatever they require.

I'm sure the majority of players in the league truly enjoy the game for what it is.

But, if you were an up and coming superstar and were offered a mega million dollar contract after your rookie contract expired, would you really turn it down?

The Rangers were the one that set the bar. Now, for as long as A-Rod plays and stays relatively productive, he's going to want the same kind of deal.

Simple fact. Every baseballplayer is there for the money. How do I know this?? Because it is their JOB to play baseball.

Yes, granted, I am sure there are some players that could probably do something else and maybe get paid more. Few and far between.

Saying a baseball player isnt in it for the money is like saying a corporate CEO isnt in it for the money.

If it is way too much money why would anyone offer it to him? At that amount of money I can see he will never come to work for you, but if he is really lucky maybe some employer will think he is worth the money and offer him a job. And if that occurs, isn't that decision between A-Rod and his employer and not us?
