Does anyone have any idea as to why my goldfish sleeps completely upside down? I always think he may have died and when I tap on the glass he flips over and starts swimming around again..

Swim bladder is the second worse disease for goldfish. It can be caused by poor water conditions (high level of ammonia, and/or nitrite) or from overfeeding. If the problem stays too long, it may become permanent. Quickly go to the LFS and buy medicine. Also get some frozen green peas, thaw them, remove the skin, squash them, then feed them to your goldfish for the next 3 days. The peas helps them from constipation BIG TIME and should be fed at least once a week. Everytime my goldfish has problem controlling his balance, I feed him peas and the next day he's A-O-K.

This is a bad sign. It could be a swim bladder problem, which can be cleared up (hopefully) with medicine available at your local fish store. It could also be a problem with diet. If you feed your goldfish flakes, stop and give the fish a soft, boiled green pea without the skin to eat. That will clear out the digestive tract if the fish is constipated or has swallowed a rock that can't be expelled. Also check your water and make sure it's OK.

He's sick. He's having swim bladder problem.

I have written something at the link below regarding floating goldfish. The write up explains the few causes of Swim Bladder in-balance but it will not be able to tell you what's the reason for your fish floating (only you can make a assessment on that, as we can't see the fish and does not know it's history), it's does explain how you can solve it if it due to certain causes.
