4x^2+7x = 0 FACTOR an x on the left side of the equaiton
(x) (4x + 7) = 0 SET each term = 0

4x + 7 = 0
4x = -7
x = -7/4 ANSWER
and
x = 0 ANSWER

CHECK SUBSTITUTE both values into the original equation
4x^2+7x = 0

for x = -7/4
4x^2+7x = 0
(4)(-7/4)^2 + (7)(-7/4) = 0
4(49/16) - 49/4 = 0
49/4 - 49/4 = 0
0 = 0 it checks out

for x = 0
4x^2+7x = 0
4(0)^2+7(0) = 0
0 = 0 it checks out

Factor first... x(4x+7)=0
This gives you two possibilities: x=0
or 4x+7=0
4x = -7
x= -7/4

Two roots are 0 and -7/4

Hope this helps!
