If your marriage was on the rocks and you truly didn't do anything wrong, would you stay in the marriage and just live somewhere else and never truly get divorced because you were scared that your wife would take you to the cleaners?

If not, Would you stay if she threatened to take you to the cleaners?

No. Get a good lawyer, gather evidence of whats going on. Rally your support as much as you can. If she's not willing to be 100% into the marriage, yo ucan get out without the sterotypical garbage.

To "take me to the cleaners" would mean that I had done something wrong. In my state (Georgia) it is community property anyway so in a no fault divorce everything is split 50-50. The way to keep my retirement is to "give" her the house but then along with the house SHE would have to make the house payments. Everything else would be split according to fair market value. If you are young enough, you could afford the "cleaners" and still have enough time to build back her half.

Okay , I'm not a guy but I have to answer this question.
I would not stay in a marriage that I didn't want and I would not let a spouse threaten me.
If you live somewhere else or leave the house, she could try to say you abandoned her.
Consult a lawyer and see what he or she says

OK I have done really nothing but I am not perfect of course. however she focuses alot on our two businesses, money and son and there is no time or energy left for me. I am not happy and really I do not love her anymore BUT I am staying cause we have a 6yo son and I do not wish to see what happened to my 3 other children when I divorced my ex wife. I did not see them much for 15 years. I just do not wish to make the same mistake as a father as I did before.

life is too short. get out, face the music and get on with your life. nothing is ever as bad as we make it out to be. you may get cleaned out, might not. but its not the end of life. you can still go on and be happy. you deserve that chance.
