the Texas Rangers. He's probably worth that much, he had a productive year, 21 HR's, 92 RBI's, .252 in only 412 At Bats. I say yes, sign him. What do you think?

The Rangers paid Sammy roughly $500K last year --- so I guess you might say that for that amount he may have been worth it. However $7 mil just isn't going to happen. If there is a team in the AL that is that desperate for a DH, they might offer him $2 mil, but I really don't see that happening.

With Sammy comes much baggage --- more than most teams would tolerate. I think his career is done for the most part.

Sammy had a good yr considering he came off a yr he didnt even play, but 7 mil? I think that he will have a hard time getting that considering he is pushing 40, is no more than a dh, and a team like Texas needs to retool with youth and some pitching. There are better fits for Texas and better ways to go than to resign an aging Sammy, and you can get some decent pitching for 7 mil. If he wants to come back for less, then sign him..but the glory days are gone and Sammy sosa in the on deck circle wont put people in the stands.

like McGwire and Bonds, his name is still tained due to all the talk about steroids. There are a lot of sluggers who are younger that many teams could seek either via free agency, trade or promoting from within without having all of the controversy. Personally, I would not want him coming to Cleveland with all the baggage. I still remember the HR chase between Sosa and McGwire, all the hype it generated only to knock all of us back down to earth with allegations of cheating. Let us not forget that Sosa's name is still attached to that scandalous time. His glory days are indeed long gone, never to return. It was nice to see him get some decent stats without being juiced up, though. Maybe restored just a little faith that just maybe Sosa was somewhat on the level in the HR race?

His only drawback is the fact that he strikes out roughly once every 3 at bats. He also played for the Rangers who were out of the race by the all star break, meaning little pressure for Sammy. Someone will pay him 7 million for a seasons worth or whiffs, horrible on base %, and a lot of steroid talk.

7 millions isn't as bad as it seems for a hitter with the proven track record of a Sammy Sosa. He could be worth 7 million only if he plans on playing the field.

I doubt that Sosa is worth 7 million, two to three maybe, but seven? Surely, you gest?

At seven million dollars or he doesn't play, I say Sammy will be home watching the games like the rest of us.
