Well, if you get rid of Mike Lowell, then the red sox are stupid for doing that. He only played third base in NY cause of the respect for Jeter and that they didn't want Jeter to move for him. His forte is shortstop.
So, in reality, you would be giving up lugo for a-rod. In that case, you have the world series MVP 3rd baseman, an all-star shortstop, rookie of the year second baseman, and gold glove first baseman. I mean, come on, the infield defense was good enough, now i think it's a brick wall basically.
Plus also, he can hit anywhere in the lineup. If you don't wanna move Papi or Manny, then he can hit either before or after them.
Finally, as a Yankee fan, I'm utterly disgusted at the fact that A-Rod can't talk for himself and Scott Boras has to do the talking for him. However, i'm not sure if it's A-Rod or Boras talking. It's been a good run with him and we definitely made history with him on our team.

As a Yankee fan I hope that he does plays for the Red Sox ,bc it will guarantee that they they won't win any more playoff series during his time in Boston.
As a baseball fan I can only see two possible things happening for A-Rod
First that he will go to a genuine contender for a lot less money than the Yankees would have given him "Gee Mr Rodriguez ,We looked at and loved your resume but we do have a little problem with the production-in -the -play-offs part .We already have guys that have proven that they can produce in the playoffs and those guys make a lot less money than what you're asking for ,so if you want to work for what we're paying those guys then maybe we can work something out if not then we can't help you "
Second that he will get most of what he wants and wind up with a non-contending team that can justify his salary by by the significant increase in attendance that signing A-Rod might bring,
Either way i don't think that he gets a 10 year contract from anybody.

That will actually be a blow to the Red Sox because they will be signing and overpaying a guy who has not done anything in the playoffs, and they will have to part with the MVP of the WS 2007, who will most likely sign with the Yankees, given that A-Rod still plays at 3rd. If I was a Red Sox fan, I 'd be worried, but since I am a Yankees fan, I 'd rather have Lowell at this point.

Arod no matter what anyone says is the best player in baseball...and he would be an improvement over Mike Lowell at 3rd...but would I sign him for the money he wants...I would stay with Lowell cause he is consistant, he brings a homogenous atmosphere to the club, and the team has a good offence in place with Ortiz, Manny Lowell Varitek, etc. Arod is saying that there is a good core for multiple championships is one reason he wants to come to Boston...seems he made similar comments when he came to NY. The money you save over the signing of Lowell could give you 2-3 quality players when you need them, and with the owners meetings coming up, have no doubt they will be skiddish about offering Arod the money he wants because that will rachet the whole scheme up fianancially...plus listening to the Bosox fans in here and the ones I know personally, they dont want him, Theo Epstein is concerned with the best team he can put together..and considering they just won the WS, I would say that he has done a good job. I know Boston was interested when the Rangers were still eating some of the contract but I dont see him going 350 mil for 10 yrs. Let him go elsewhere, and be happy with what the Bosox have and with the young talent you have coming up

I want to play for the Red Sox. I hope my chances and A-Rod's are about the same as long as Scott Boras is dropping figures like $300 million for 10 years. With Mike Lowell signed for the next 3 or 4 years, let A-Rod sign with the Marlins or the Giants or whoever wants to pay him so much that they can't field a decent team around him. That has been the Giants' formula for the last 5 years.

I would really be surprised if the Red Sox would do this deal, they have the best team in baseball without him and might be better off to secure their future with another top of the line pitcher. With that being said can you imagine A-Rod on the Red Sox, they would be the most dominant team in recent history.

ARod might be the best offensive players in the major leagues but is he worth 250 mil is the question. When Bsoton won the world series they did not have players who hit 50 HR and 130+ RBI. Barry Bonds hit 73 HRs in 2001, but the Giants didn't make rthe playoffs
If the goal is to win the world series again, the offer should be no more than 25 mil a year and max of 7 years

Mike Lowell in the event that they like to win the international sequence. A-Rod if he needs to have a 24+one million team that does ok interior the primary season yet loses interior the 1st around of the playoffs, or in the event that they get previous that give way on your arch competitors after having a three-0 leand and the lead interior the 9th inning of game 4.

A-Rod couldn't beat the Tigers last year, and the Yankees weren't in the conference finals. A-Rod isn't worth the money, he is the most overrated, hated player ever. This man goes out of his way to make sure you see him flipping you off. I've never seen such trash before. The sooner he's run out of the league, the better!
