What method is used for painting a really small 1/35 figures? I have tried darker color for the lines, but it does not apparent because it's too small.

Minimaker gives good advice and links...

I've been doing Tamiya, Dragon, and MRC figures since 1977, have done over 2000 figures, and it's really a matter of practice...

1) First clean and PRIME the figures with spray primer.
2) Do the skin tones first
3) Basic Uniform colors
4) Uniform Highlights and shading.
5) Uniform Accessories
6) Buttons, Badges, & Trim

Some figure painters SWEAR by oil-paints because of their ease of blending, but I've been using Testor's Model Master enamels forever and get great results.

To do the highlighting / shading: put a drop or two of your paint on a scrap of plastic or cardstock... then put a drop or two of white and black along side... mix and apply.

YES, as someone else said... often you have to exagerate the shading / highlights to get them to stand out.

There is no reply to the " how" as this will depend on the effect you want. Comic (airbrush), realistic (oil or acrylic), basic (any scale model paint). As to darker colours not showing up: keep in mind that you have to recreate a 1:1 effect on a 1:35 scale model which means you will have to exagerate certain effects.

The " thin brush" comment is only partly correct. You need a sharp end but with enough hair to hold sufficient paint. I would not go smaller than 0.

1:35 is a very popular military model scale and there are a lot of articles on this. Here are a couple of sites with figure painting details:
