In his book, The Crisis of the Old Order, 1919-1933, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., argues that Theodore Roosevelt promoted a Hamiltonian, progressive philosophy in which the state would be the dominant partner in a government-business relationship. This paternalistic state also had a positive obligation to the poor. Whether Theodore Roosevelt would push for increased government control today is another matter. He died in 1919, and did not see the changes promulgated by his cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal. It is difficult to predict the extent to which T.R. would have supported these changes, and whether he would consider today's federal government too powerful.

The Easter Bunny? Look online for a quick biography of Theodore Roosevelt. You'll notice themes that occur often. He loved hunting and was an ardent conservationalist and environmentalist. He looked fondly on his time in the Spanish-American War and had an independent streak that led him to form and lead his own party for the presidency. Apply those themes to today and ask yourself, what position would he take today? It seems if you have at least a little background knowledge (even read the Wikipedia biography, it's not so much to read), you'll be able to apply his beliefs to today's issues. Good luck!

Well, he's definitely one of the strongest presidents in history. Go look up some of his major accomplishments and compare them to current events now.
For one thing, he was a huge supporter of preserving nature and the environment. I believe he created a lot of the national parks today, so you can pretty much assume he'd be working on that more today.
But it's not a very hard assignment- TR was a very opinionated man, and you can apply his reasoning and beliefs to events today. Good luck on the question!

Roosevelt was a mass of contradictions. He was a great believer in strength and perseverance. He also was a great believer in fairness.
Truly, I think there are few that can give any sort of informed opinion of what he'd think today.
My personal view is that he'd be thoroughly disqusted with todays Democrats on how they handle the war on terror and Iraq. He'd also be disqusted by how the GOP has sold out to the special interests.

If Bill and Ted were on the case we'd know for sure.
Teddy Roosevelt was a GREAT president and a great man.
Unfortunately I think he'd be pretty disgusted about now. I think he'd believe in the same things today as he did in his day. Have a good read about him and try to pick a few current events and think about what he'd do.
I'm sure there would be plenty of sore rear ends with boot marks in them that's for sure!!!!

He would have been in the front lines in Afghanistan looking for Osama. We would not have any of the bonehead policies we suffer under right now. He was very different than today's politicians. He is somewhere in the conservatives ( hunter, big on fighting other countries) and the liberals of today( conservationist, anti-corporate)
