This guy has been stalking me, harassing me, and has recently threatened to kill me if I stop talking to him. He tells me I need to have sex with him and give him adderall (I have a prescription) or else he will "destroy my life." However, all of these threats have been made on the internet. He has not ever called me, only through facebook/myspace/AIM. I am going to the police tomorrow with the print outs of these internet conversations? Would they take me seriously if I had these conversations? If I filed charges against him would I not have a chance in hell since these print outs may not be admissable. Also, he is in the military. Could I make a separate complaint to the military? All I want is justice. He said some hateful and degrading things to me, describing vividly how he wants to have sex with me.....I was justice. If this is not harassment I don't know what is.....The problem is that I don't know if these print outs are enough. Please help!

Making them admissible is difficult. You would have to prove that he alone had access to the account. While a forensic computer analyst can track an IP address to a specific computer, it's harder to trace it to a specific user.

The Instant Messaging is admissable. You just have to autheticate that you got them and that you can trace the messages to him. They would be admitted into evidence with hardly a blink.

Honestly, your best bet may be able to get a "restraining order" against him preventing this contact. (You have good grounds to get one). It is when he violates the restraining order that the Police can truly step in.

However, this guys conduct, including threats to kill and give him adderall is pretty outragous and is illegal. The police and DA may decide that he has crossed the legal line and can be prosecuted without your first getting a restrain order.

The military is a good bet too. They have codes of conduct that he is suppose to live up to -- which he clearly hasn't.

Good luck

Yes they are because they come with time stamps and also where they came from. You have a cyber stalker number one, the threats even if he does not know you may well come to pass so yes file charges and let them get this jerk. I am hoping you did not give any personal information to him like where you work,go to school where you live. If you have given any personal information out let the police know that as well. They will work harder if they think you are in immediate danger.

For better evidence an older judge who does not i.m. can "see", download a printscreen program like Gadwin printscreen and print them directly from your computer screen. Also, you can take photos of cell phone texts with a very high quality digital camera. If the print out you have just says "4:48 badguy- "I hate u" he can allege you typed this yourself, so try these other options, if possible.
