To make a long story short, class struggle has been one of the leading agents of social change. It has created not only revolutions but also workers struggles, which have lead to the advancement of the working class.
If there were no class struggle, we'd probably still have feudalism.

Depends on who you are asking! If you're asking a functionalist, then very little, if you're asking from a marxist perspective then its the whole basis of human history and historical materialism. In Feudal times the land owners controlled the serfs and used their labour Once you get into the industrial age then class conflict is the entire basis of the communist manifesto. The labour of the proletariate is used and exploited by the capitalist owners of the means of production. According to Marxists you can't have human history without class conflict

The Russian Revolution 1917 - killing the czar and instituting the Soviet Union.

The French Revolution 1789 - killing off the French aristocracy and went through a variety of different governments in the next 100 years.

These are two easy examples. If the "higher" classes abuse their powers, the "lower" classes eventually will unite and overthrow them.
