Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of government oversight by the People and it is under constant attack from within by demagogues and the avaricious alike often hand in hand. Greed and religion just seem to have some sort of correlation bearing further critical review. Remember religion and god are two different things

There is your answer right there..

Once the people are tied down, ropes are added bit by bit.
Smart people break free, the rest become more restrained..

The US is almost totally restrained right now...

Religion must not mix with government because leaders must not be influenced by religious beliefs and traditions. There must be freedom of religion and speech in the people that the government must not curtail unless contrary to law and public order.
