Like every person who walks this earth, Gandhi was a flawed man. He was far from perfect, but the ideals of non-violence he espoused were brilliant.

He was able to defeat the powerful British through a very righteous will. It is tough to defeat someone, as the British found out, who will not fight.

As for flaws, the fact he slept with young girls is reprehensible. Okay, so he didn't have intercourse with them. That still doesn't excuse him having them come to his bed. He says he did so he could be stronger by practicing fighting temptation. My thoughts on this are what effect did that have on the young girls? It couldn't have been good.

So like many other people, sometimes their private life doesn't jibe with their public views.

Was he great? Yes. Great and flawed.

It all depends on the perspective of the people who wish to see him.

Many consider that Gandhiji has sacrificed his life for the sake of the nation and he didnt care about his wife and children and he always used to sabotage the women's lives around him.

He was murdered because he agreed over the division of Pakistan even when lots of Hindu people were brutally murdered compelling him to do so. If you can get a movie called "Gandhi, My Father" you can get to know how his son suffered a lot because of the negligence of Gandhi.

So, it all depends on how you wanna c him. but, in all the sense, he is a Great Man. The Bapu of India.

Mahatma Gandhi?
He was an EXCELLENT man.
He pursued what he wanted without using violence.
He didn't stoop to the level of the British in India, and guess what?
He got what he wanted (for the British to free India).

Gandhi showed us that you don't have to be violent to get what you want.
