Take a break. Writer's block can be frustrating, but when you're trying to force out ideas and thoughts, it would just add on to the stress. Take a walk and carry around a pad & pen or tape recorder. This is why it takes some successful writers so long to finish a novel and why some of the best novels took so long to finish.

Get inspired! Read part of one of your favorite books, listen to some music with great lyrics, read a friend's essay, etc. Or whatever else works for you! Go to the park, go to the museum, or so on. Just get your mind turning.

Listen to music while you write.
I think it only works for certain people though.
I had to write a poem once, and I couldnt think of anything to write and I turned on my music and my poem turned out great!
Sometimes taking a break, like taking a walk always helps too.

Just free write about something random. Keep writing non stop about anything you want no matter how stupid it is. After a while you will run back into your topic.
Sometimes you do have to take a break and come back to it.

Write it out on paper first, then transfer it to a word processor. Print it out, make corrections and keep the cycle going until you have a finished paper.

I have the same problem. I try to talk to myself out loud. I say "self, what are you trying to say," then I answer. Then I ask myself "Why," and so on. If you get off track it also helps to stop and say (out loud) "wait, what am I writing about and how does this go along with what I'm trying to say." Also look back to your thesis frequently it will keep you going . It sounds kinda weird and dumb but if you talk to yourself out loud it makes things easier and keeps you on track. Don know, it works for me, but then again I talk to myself out loud so...

writing comes from the heart. open your mind, relax, and let it come to you. let everything from your heart flow through the tip of the pen and just let it happen. this might not work for you, but i like to smoke a fatty just so i can relax and open my mind. you also might wanna take a break. don't go at it too hard. like i told you before, let it come to you naturally.

Just write down whatever comes to your head and make sentences out of it. Then come back to it when your head is clear. Also, having other people look at your paper and make suggestions could unblock some things and create new ideas. Best of luck to you.
