y=2x+3

y = 3x SUBSTITUTE this value for y into the first equation
y = 2x+3
3x = 2x + 3 SUBTRACT 2x from both sides
x = 3 ANSWER

SUBSTITUTE x = 3 into the first equation to solve for y
y = 2x + 3
y = 2(3) + 3
y = 6 + 3
y = 9 ANSWER

CHECK substitute these values for x and y into the second equation
y = 3x
9 = 3(3)
9 = 9 it checks out
