Go over your lecture notes and re-write them after each class when the information is still fresh in your mind.
If the teacher/professor passes out a study guide, study EVERYTHING on it because that's what's going to be on the test. If you are unsure of something, look in your textbook or ask your teacher before the exam.

Subtitles should always be your beginning point. Anything in bold, listed on the side or has special illustration should be given special attention. The next thing would be to read and reread your notes 3x at minimum. The best thing is to form a 30 to 45 minute study group at least 2x weekly or 3 times minimum before the test. This will help you recall the information because you will be able to visualize your classmates or tutor reviewing it with you.
History is not an easy subject but if you approach any subject as if it is the most interesting subject you have ever learned, you will be surprised how much you will actually learn.
For instance, if they are teaching about presidents and you have to remember the years the presidents where in office, just pretend like it is your first time hearing about the presidents and then relate the most important factor of that presidents term to the year in which he served. I bet you will never forget it. Just as if you were reading an interesting book. Isn't it funny how we can remember books that intrigued our interest til the end, even if we read it 5 years ago, we can still remember it as if we were there. Be there in all your studies and you will amazed at the results.
And, have fun with it, just have fun.

Good question, I have never been able to grab the concept of history. I never understood why i had to learn about the past. I don't have an interest in what happened six gillion years ago! Usually I just try to study my notes and hope I won't fail. Here is one of my favorite quotes:
"I do have a test today; that wasn't bull. It's on European Socialism. I mean really, whats the point? I'm not European. I don't plan on being European. So, who cares if they're socialists? They could be Facist Energists for all I care. It still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car. Not that I condone facism, or any other ism for that matter. Isms, in my opinion, are not good. A person should not believe in an ism; he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.'

I do notecards of outlines from the teacher/any important dittos...then wait...
Then I read the chapter thoroughly (in a quiet place) and when i do that, I study the notecards...the ones you know place in one pile and the ones you don't know place in the pile...
Keep going through the ones u don't know until u know all of them...
Then just study the notecards as one...if u know all of them ur ready!
Just before the test pull out ur book and SKIM the chaper (I say OK, know that, know that) If I don't know something I just read that brief paragraph.
Make sure u know the main ideas too!
And u could also play the history out in your head so u can recount the events easier or connect them with something..
ex. In Italian davanti means in front of...so I just act out HEY, u just davantied me in line:-( and I put the image in my head of someone cutting me.
Hope I helped!

HIstory is my favorite class i get straight a's in it...
To study i just look at my notes and try to rember them.
-take notes that are short and easy to rember also make sure they get to the point
Another thing that would help is listen in class history is basically just memorization and if you pay attention youll pass... only class i pay attention in and pass... i might want to satrt paying attention in my other classes
GOOD LUCK!!!

Try to envision as many adjectives as I can to really place myself back in that time and then it's as if the facts are as real and easy to remember as the facts of today.
