1950, when the average daily cost of meals and lodgings for a family of four was $13. Motor Inn, as they were called then averaged $ 6.00 a night for a bed+ Roll-away's ( $1.00 extra) and shared bath for the most part, and people complain about the few extras at our cheaper Motels today. LOL

Fancy Hotels in San Fran. went for 8-10 a night, still shared bath at most.

My parents were married in 1954 and kept a receipt from the hotel they stayed in on their honeymoon. Their room was $6.75/night. It looked kind of classy from the photos. By the early 60's the price was an average of $12/night.
