I'm 63, so Popeye and Meet the Press had already been around for a while before I was aware of them.

What made me feel old was realizing American Bandstand was first broadcast on national TV in August of 1957. I remember that but it sure doesn't seem like 50 years ago.

I never watched Meet the Press. But I did read the comics.
So if Popeye is that old, how old is the Blondie and Dagwood
comic strip? That one has been around forever too. I miss
some of the old ones no longer in print. I can only think right
now of the Katz and Jammer Kids. Wait, Little Lulu, and
Little Audrey, I just remembered too. How I enjoyed those as
a kid. And the Archie comic strip not to mention those comic
books too. There sure were alot of comforts growing up that
I took for granted. Thanks for the flash back to the true comic
era. Those simple things are sure missed today.

Yeah, and Popeye the Sailor man in his younger days, looked somewhat used as does our dear Goldwing..........

Ewwww...is he going to send me a NASTY letter for THAT one!! LOL, LOL, LOL....

I didn't quite realize that Popeye was that old. But I do know that he refined into an "acceptable look" over the years. I only got to watch Meet the Press if I had to do an essay for school. Otherwise my Dad was busy watching his country music shows....? Jamboree, and Hockey Night in Canada.

I didn't realize they'd been around this long. It's hard to believe Popeye's 75, I wish I had aged as well as he has. lol

What really makes me feel old is my daughter getting older. They are kids one minute and the next they are grown.

No, wasn't born early enough to know that. Remember a few cartoons of Popeye though.

No! I watched both of these shows and they both entertain and educate me - - - (I do miss Popeye now!). Meet the Press is very informative and this keeps my mind very active!

Here's where I feel old. "Music and the Spoken Word" featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and initially broadcast by KSL Radio in Salt Lake has been on the air continuously since 1927! That's 12 years before I was even born.

Would you believe that this is the first time I've heard of either of those terms ?

(by the way. How old is Maggie and Jiggs, Snuffy Smith,
The Phantom, The Little King, Nancy, and the Katzenjammer Kids ?)

I'd say that I've probably seen every one of those blankety blank Meet The Press shows since it's been on. However, that would truly be a lie.

My Dad watched it religiously, every week until he died (I wonder if that's what killed him?). I have not watched it once since that time. It's boring!

Perhaps that's the reason I'm still alive.

I already feel old, at least my body does. I was too rough on it when I was young I guess. At least I don't have much grey on my head. People still think my grandchildren are my children. The oldest is 17 and now I have one that will be 2 this month.
