James I wish you were right. I dont think you caught the CNN special on racism in America did you?

2007-11-04 15:13:26 · update #1

Ya think? I guess you do not read the news or watch tv. It would be so nice if you were correct about that. I watched a man from Texas a good man whose father brought him up to treat others white black or whatever the same. He goes to work at CCSI in texas and they attempt to hang him in the bathroom. One black man against a whole company of white. It broke my heart to see this man who is unable to return to work due to this horrific cruelty. He survived. Thank God. Jena and all the nooses incidents.. I wish you were right. How I pray you were right. but you are not.

LadyBlue, it's because too many people make it that way. You see, I must believe that there is a silent majority of whites and a silent majority of blacks that you don't hear about. They want to live in equality and peace and don't believe in all this crap. What you hear about is all these radicals on both sides that make the news. The media does not show you the average American, they show you the dip sh!ts. All I see about Canadians on the news is the murderers, rapist, etc., I don't see the good people so I don't judge Canadians by it. Keep in mind, that is what you are seeing about us. I would invite you to my home and show you that the ethnic cooperation is just fine here in America if the outsiders would just leave us the fuc$ alone.

There are many versions to this question.

Why are people racist?
-It's natural for humans (even educated ones) to notice differences, patterns and tendencies among and between groups of people. It's a natural cognitive process that leads us to differentiate on racial bases.

Why is institutional racism STILL a problem in the U.S.?
-Honestly, because there is still such a power differential. The haves want to keep and the have-nots want to get. It's a constant struggle.

Why has racism become a problem in the U.S.?
-For that, we must look to history.

Why is overt racism a problem in the U.S.?
-Like the first answerer posted, ignorance.

Racism isn't "such a problem in the U.S." it is a worldwide problem. Stop focusing on one country...it's everywhere. It's the PC people that are the bigger problem. Those and the people that scream racism everytime they aren't given what they want but either don't deserve it, haven't worked for it, or are trying to obtain it illegally and get caught. As soon as consequences hit...the race card is pulled. Funny how that works.

Because alot of people think its a huge deal, I' white and I go to a mainly black and Mexican school, and if I went up to a black girl and called her a ***** if she was giving me problems I'd be a racist in their eyes and every black kid would be after my azz. I hear em call eachother the N word but if someone of a different race calles them that its like the world is going to end. I think alot of those groups for like Black people and other race organization are alot of bull crap. I don't care if people call me racist for my comments, its my opinion and too tell you the truth I don't like anyone. Its such a big deal because people make a big deal out of nothing... they even call people of their own race racist. People won't hire my mom at jobs because shes white and has a lot of education.... people at mainly black jobs want to hire their "brothas and sistas" to sit around and do nothing for money, even a few black peoplewe know said thats all they do, sit around. My mom went to a job fair once, and she went over to a stall for this one job and the lady was black. She was all friendly to this black woman in front of my mom and was so eger to talk to her, and the woman didn't even have an education or anything, then my mom comes along dressed nicely, and she has a very good resume, and the lady acts uninterested and is like fine ok, when my mom asks if she wants a copy of her resume, and litterally pushes my mom out of the way to get to some fat *** black lady behind her who is in a tee shirt and jeans! My mom calls the place the next day states who she is, etc, and the people tell her there are no job openings when the place had a bunch of openings the day before! What do you call that?

i think every race is racist toward another, or at least they belive they are better than others, whites still racist toward blacks and minorities, blacks hate everyone, nobody likes them, but their case is especial, I dont think now people in general hates them for their color, they hate them because of their actions, int he past they were oppresed , so they belive they sould steal, the same for latinos, people oppress them int eh future, those kids will be aggressive,,etc etc, I dont know if its about money, got to be, blacks kille dmy dad when i was 12 int he corner of my house, I was born here, but illegals cant open bank accounts, they cant drive so they mostly take the bus the subway with cash, being the prey of thieves,,a lot of poor americans belive immigrants must give them money, and they dont even ask, tehy robb them, have been there, and seen that, soo many races, soo many nationalites and ethnicities, and soo much tension that the system creates, so onely one group remains in power,, and soo many republicans belong to the white supremacy, everyoone knows, usa attack other nations, where noone calls them..

Because of ignornace. People refuse to see that the color of your skin doesn't matter and that you should base your opinion of that person on their character not their race.
