Drama is quite an album considering what a transitional phase of Yes's career it was recorded in, isn't it?

I'm a definite fan. I've got the three cd 35th anniversary. And Relayer, Close To The Edge, Going For The One, and 90125. I prefer the stuff from the seventies but like the 90125 pretty well after that.

Woooo! Close to the Edge avatar!

Yes I am a Yes fan

My favorite Yes songs are:
Close to the Edge
Roundabout
And You and I
Starship Trooper
Gates of Dilerium
Siberian Khatru

Classic 70's prog stuff, duh. I have big issues with Owner of a Lonely Heart.

Lol, I didn't thumbs down... I don't know why but I hate doing that. I also forgot to mention, I don't like the 80's stuff that much (it's still good though), but I do love Changes, that song just gets me each time. But Owner of a Lonely Heart... ug, it makes me angry that that is Yes' most famous song.

EDIT:
Oh yea... if you plan to do album cover avatars each week, avoid Floyd's Meddle. Bluemusic/proghead/music note guy had his account deleted once because he used Meddle and it was considered a violation (don't know why). He never came back :0(

Ah Drama...one of my favorite albums, and considering John Anderson wasn't on it, it's brilliant! Steve's guitar playing is top notch, and Chris and Allen were at the top of their game as well. Newby's Geoffrey Downes and Trevor Horn were great too. After I bought the 'Drama' album back in 1980, I remember rushing out to buy 'The Buggles' 1st album, and expected so much. I was disappointed to say the least. The Buggles 2nd album featured their version of 'I Am a Camera' (Into the Lens).
But with Yes, Geoff and Trevor were great. I always enjoyed Trevor Horns fretless bass playing on 'Run Through the Light'.
It's funny how so many supposed Yes fans thought that John Anderson was actually present on the Drama album. With Trevor's lead vocals, aided by Chris Squires harmonizing and acapella, it's no wonder so many were fooled!
That album actually marks the closure for me of 70's progressive rock (mainstream anyways).
I've always enjoyed everything they did during the 60's and 70's, but never cared much for their 80's material, all though Trevor Rabin is one heck of a guitarist!
I also really enjoyed their first self titled, and 2nd album (Time and a Word) with Tony Kaye and Peter Banks. 'Astral Traveler' and 'Beyond and Before' are classics!
Even though Steve Howe wasn't present on either of these albums, Atlantic records felt the need to issue the album Stateside with a different cover depicting Steve, who had only just joined the band!

All the songs you've mentioned are among my favorites as well.
Sound Chaser and Parallels were great songs as well.
I've seen them live several times, and my favorite show was in 1978 (I think) when they had the rotating stage, and all the lasers! What an experience...what great memories!

Album-wise, for me it's between "The Yes Album" and "Close to the Edge". I realise you asked about songs, but neither album has a bad track...As a bass player, Chris Squire's sound is almost perfect( the rest of them were great as well, obviously...)

I've been watching Yes DVD's tonight and just happened to see this question come up. "Close to the Edge" is on at the moment and it never ceases to amaze me how perfect they still are live.

Some of my favorites are South Side of the Sky, Gates of Delirium, Siberian Khatru, Don't Kill the Whale, Close to the Edge and of course all of the tunes you mentioned.

I prefer the 70's stuff but they had good tunes on pretty much all of their albums!
