Here's the equation:

sqrt(b^2 - 5b -14) = b + 11


How do I solve this? Thanks for your help!!!

Square both sides:
b^2 - 5b - 14 = (b + 11)^2
b^2 - 5b - 14 = b^2 + 22b + 121
27b = -135
b = -5

b² - 5b - 14 = b² + 22b + 121
- 135 = 27 b
b = - 5
