It featured folk singers. I vaguely remember it. Came across in something I was reading.

I think a lot of you guys are thinking of Hulluballoo (sp?) the teen show with go go dancers or Hee Haw. This is folk music.

Yes. It was a show dedicated to showcasing folk singers. It drew its name from the word for a folk singing gathering used to raise funds (usually for some progressive political group).
I played at a "hoot" at Riverside Church in Manhattan which was used to raise money for Hudy "Leadbelly" Ledbetter's widow. Leadbelly was the guy who wrote "The Rock Island Line" among other folk classics.
That TV show did a great deal in getting people to visit coffee houses throughout the nation which featured folk singers. BTW, many of those same properties which once served as coffee houses are the comedy clubs of today. One fad replaces another.

I wasn't a fan of the show, but yes, I do remember it. I was
into folk music, and loved, the Irish folksingers, the Rovers,
and The Kingston Trio, who I saw in person and very close.
There was one singer, who still entertains, with folk songs by the name of Roger Whitaker. His music is timeless. I missed
seeing him several years ago when he was appearing locally.
It seems like the folk singing era was very short lived. And I
didn't know the Beatles music helped to shorten it til now. So
thanks Phil for that info.

No, but I remember Hee Haw. I loved the used car one, and remember the number to call was BR-549. I also sing Where oh where are you tonight. Searched the world over and thought I found true love, but you met another and you were gone.

Sure, I was a folk music nut, bought a guitar and learned to play it, was sad to see the era leave with the invasion of the Beatles. My favorites were Joan Baez; Peter, Paul, and Mary; The New Christie Minstrals; Chad Mitchel Trio; Brothers Four; Buffy St. Mariel; Ian and Sylvia; and Judy Collins. Saw most of them several times in concert in the sixties. Goldwing

Awesome, I used to watch Nickelodeon all then time back when those shows were on. I miss them, and anything on that channel being any good. Legends of the Hidden Temple, Aah Real Monsters, Doug, Hay Arnold, The Rugrats, Salute Your Shorts, and All That were my favorites. I wish they still had shows like that on.

I sure do remember that show. Was on a couple of seasons.

It was great, especially if you were a Country Music Fan, and I love all of it.

Wish they'd bring it back, or at least something as good!

Yes. I saw a movie about it a couple of years ago. It started out as an Ed Sullivan special, and kinda grew from there. basic, good ol' American country music. Too bad it didn't last.
