I just moved to a town that neighbors Pensacola Beach and have been wondering if I need to get the undercarriage coated to prevent rust. If so, about how much does this cost?

You only need undercarriage coating if you live in a cold climate and they use salt on the roads to melt the snow and ice.

Only a fool would pay to add under coating to any car anywhere. That is a product that was designed to give more profit to car dealers. It is not proven to work due to the fact that humidity will get into places and then condense back into water. This takes place in areas of the car that are unreachable. Bottom line is cars will eventually rust away but modern ones take a lot longer.

No, you don't have to, it is your choice. It would be a good idea though because the salt in the air is going to eat your car alive. The cost, $300 to $500 should be enough. A body shop would give the best answer.

No!

However I would suggest you keep a good coat of wax on the exterior and rinse the dew off of your car every morning. This will keep the car from rusting, especially the chrome.

That worked for me in Oxnard,California

NO!

BUT IT WILL ROT OUT QUICKER.

you decide. How long do you intend to keep the car and what will be the loss as a trade it if it is not protected. Talk with someone else in your area.
