Yes, it is ok. I am now 26 weeks and I spotted around 5 weeks as well. Not to get too personal, but did you have sex right before you spotted? Your cervix is extremely swollen and sensitive. As long as it is very light and doesn't continue, you should be fine. Even if you call the doctor right now, they will tell you it is early and to wait it out. Also, cramping is completely normal. Your uterus is stretching at a rapid rate. You will continue to feel it until 20 weeks or so. When those cramps are replaced with "round ligament pains". Unfortunately, neither are pleasurable, but the outcome is worth it. Definately check out a site that I have found.........www.i-am-pregnant.com It has wonderful information on pregnancy and an answer to just about every question you will have. Good luck!

First of all, try not to panic. I know, it's easier said than done, but I've been there. I spotted twice with my first born (now a healthy 5 year old) and once with this pregnancy around 4 1/2 weeks (I'm now 14 weeks, great heartbeat and everythings looking good. It was probably implantation spotting for me)
Many women experience some spotting during pregnancy, it can happen for a number of reason. Implantation is one of them. The fact is, many of these pregnancies continue without problem and the reason for the spotting is never found.
If the spotting is minimal and it's not accompanied by any sharp cramping or shoulder pain (possible sign of ectopic pregnancy) you can wait until the morning and call your doctor. It's best to report the spotting just in case and let your doctor decide what to do, if anything.
At 5 weeks there's a chance he'll order an ultrasound, or an equal chance he or she'll just tell you that it's best to wait it out. It's still early for an ultrasound and frankly, even if you are going to miscarry, there's not much they can do at this point.
Remember, alot of women experience some spotting......if it gets heavy or is accompanied by severe cramps, then you'll want to go to emergency to get checked out.
Some achyness is normal, it's from the hormones and the uterus stretching. You'll get the feeling on and off.
Good luck! My son is proof that this could turn out just fine.

Blood is normal throughout pregnancy, as long as it's not a constant stream similar to a period and you don't get cramps. Some women get bleeding like what you've described every month, which is why some women don't know they're pregnant until 6-7 months even. I would mention it at your next appointment, so he or she can reassure you, and check it out for themselves. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it happens again today, or this weeks even, call your doctor, ER is no necessary.

You wouldn't be having implantation bleeding at 5 weeks. The embryo would have implanted awhile ago.
Any type of bleeding in pregnancy should be investigated sooner rather than later. See your doctor.

So long as it's just a little spotting I think your ok....keep an eye on it and watch for cramping...if the cramps get worse and the bleeding increases call your dr and see if he or she wants you to go to the emergency room. try not to panic, b/c the added stress can make a big difference in the out come. Lay down with your legs up and try to relax....Good luck sweetie, I hope all goes well!
