Jasmine, Rose, and Lily each had an entry in the county fair's flower competition. Coincidentally, the flowers they entered were a jasmine, a rose, and a lily, but not in that order--in fact, none of the three competitors entered her namesake flower. If, in addition, you know that Jasmine did not enter a rose, can you figure out which flower each woman entered?

Which flower did each girl have?
A. Lily had lily, Rose had rose and Jasmine had jasmine.
B. Jasmine had rose, Rose has jasmine, and Lily had lily.
C. Lily had rose, Jasmine had lily and Rose had jasmine.
D. Rose had lily, Lily had jasmine and Jasmine had jasmine.

okay so the answer is C

it helps to write this out all on paper..

so you know that jasmine did not have a rose or jasmine bc she cant her namesake flower.. so there is only one flower for her to have left which is the LILY.

then you can go onto Rose . If Jasmine has the Lily and Rose cannot have the rose, that means there is only one flower left for her to have, Jasmine.

and then you are left with the third girl.. LILY.
if Jasmine has the lily and Rose has the Jasmine.. lilly can only have the rose.

I choose C. Since each girl did not bring her namesake flower. A Rose did not bring a Rose for example. And a Lily did not bring a Lily. Since Jasmine did not bring a rose or her namesake flower. C makes since

C. Lily had rose, Jasmine had lily and Rose had jasmine.

None of them entered their namesake flowers and Jasmine did not enter a rose.

C
This is easy. If the rule say Jasmine can't be her name that excludes Jasmines, Also jasmine did not enter a rose so a lily is the only possible answer for jasmine, only C includes that answer so you don't need to check the others.

Jasmine did not enter a rose, and she did not enter a jasmine. so that leaves her with a lilly. As C is the only option, it has to be c.
